Andrea Messina

Principal

Andrea is an innovative leader and passionate strategist with more than two decades of experience leading philanthropy, communications and organizational change initiatives across the social and private sectors. Committed to racial and social justice, Andrea has raised more than $100 million for Washington, D.C., non-profit organizations and led a $30 million capital campaign to build the Michelle Obama Southeast Center for Bread for the City. 

Prior to launching Messina Strategies, Andrea held the positions of Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer at the Humane Rescue Alliance and Chief Development Officer at Bread for the City. She also worked in Accenture’s management consulting practice supporting companies through complex transformations and organizational change initiatives. She has facilitated more than 1,000 hours of leadership coaching, having honed her skills through the Accomplishment Coaching Coaches’ Training Program. Andrea holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA from the Catholic University of America.

Andrea lives in the DC area with her husband, daughter and two bonus sons. When she isn’t advocating for social sector organizations or chasing after her toddler, you can find her on a yoga retreat somewhere between South India and Shepherdsville, WV, taking in a performance of contemporary dance or theater somewhere in the DC Metro, or on a neighborhood walk with her rescue Chihuahua Mama Mia and Goldendoodle Poppy.
